Wild CSI Summer Camp 2013
The San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research is a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats. The Institute’s Conservation Education Laboratory, located adjacent to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, is hosting its eighth annual summer camp geared toward students entering grades 6, 7, and 8.
During Wild CSI Summer Camp, participants are tasked with combining cutting-edge science, the latest research, and their critical thinking skills to solve real-life conservation issues.
This week-long Conservation Science Investigation (CSI) takes participants behind the scenes at the research arm of the Zoo and Safari Park, gives them an in-depth look at how researchers use science to solve conservation problems, and introduces them to various careers in conservation biology.
The camp is June 24 to 28, 2013, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Cost is $150 for members, $175 for nonmembers. Registration includes snacks, daily animal presentations, hands-on science activities, and behind-the-scenes tours of the Safari Park and/or San Diego Zoo.

“I like that my child got an excellent look at real research, such as using the DNA technology and studying a plot of plants…. More than fulfilled my expectations…. It was an excellent value for the price.” – 2012 Wild CSI Parent
“We sent a reluctant child to camp who didn’t want to go simply because his sister attended and loved this camp the years before. We got an excited, interested ‘young explorer’ back – eager to read and do more about conservation and looking forward to come back next year. Thank you!!!” – 2012 Wild CSI Parent
“…The themes were great, as were the activities, and the instructors were really good – enthusiastic, kind and motivating.” – 2012 Wild CSI Parent
